Sonja Busch

Sonja Busch is a senior teacher and trainer specializing in trauma-sensitive and holistic approaches to psycho-spiritual transformation. As one of the GTT Europe Coordinators and founder of the European Association for Holotropic Breathwork, she is committed to strengthening professional standards while keeping the heart of the work alive.
With a background that bridges body therapy, clinical supervision, and social sciences, Sonja holds advanced training in Bowen Body Therapy, a degree in clinical supervision, coaching, and organizational development, as well as a Master’s degree in political science and sociology. She is trained in Jungian and transpersonal modalities, including Psychosynthesis and SoulCollage, and integrates expressive arts and embodiment practices into her teaching.
Her professional path includes extensive work with vulnerable populations affected by gender-based violence, human trafficking, sexual abuse, and displacement, particularly in post-conflict regions. These experiences have shaped her unwavering commitment to trauma-sensitive, person-centered care.
As trainer she has been serving a variety of international organizations such as the UN, OSCE, ICMPD, GIZ and lectured at several universitities and research centers focusing on peace studies in Austria (ASPR), Germany (PRIF) and Italy (University of Turin).
In her private practice, she offers counseling, body therapy, and supervision, creating grounded and compassionate spaces for integration. Known for her patience and willingness to stay with a process as long as needed, Sonja embodies steady presence at the threshold of transformation.
